Project description: The project is located in Nsawam, 30 km North of Accra. It aims to produce an additional 7,400 m3/day water to increase the supply to Nsawam and provide drinking water to 7 communities from Nsawam to Pokuase (towards Accra).

Services provided by ASPAC during the project:


  • The Environmental Impact Studies to obtain, with the assistance of GWC, the necessary official permits and authorizations to build the systems

  • The detailed design (construction drawings) of the WTP

  • The detailed design (construction drawings) of the treated water main and the trunk main to Pokuase

Technical Assistance:

  • Water audit in Nsawam in order to propose measures to reduce Non-Revenue Water
  • Training of GWC staff (plant operation and GIS)

Construction and installation of equipment:

  • Raw water intake
  • Raw water pumping station
  • Mixing and dosing systems
  • Aerator
  • Circular clarifiers
  • Sand filters (Aquazur type)
  • Clear water and backwash pumping stations
  • Connection to the power grid

    ~ 12 month operating assistance

    ~ Laying of HDPE OD 400 SDR 11 pipes: 6,600 m from the treatment plant to the existing treated water tank in Nsawam;

    ~ Laying of HDPE OD 315 SDR 17 pipes: 12,700 m from the existing treated water tank to Pokuase in order to feed 7 new localities.
